NORMAXIS in New Aquitaine
MEP engineering, environmental consulting, biodiversity certification

NORMAXIS operates in the New Aquitaine region of South-West France on real-estate, urban-development, industrial and public projects: RE2020 thermal engineering, environmental consulting (BDNA, HQE, BREEAM), Atlantic biodiversity ecological surveys, court-admissible measurements and independent third-party biodiversity certification. Teams mobilised on Bordeaux, Pau, Biarritz, La Rochelle, Limoges and across the whole region.

Regional presence

France's leading agricultural and wine region, second largest by area.

New Aquitaine concentrates strategic markets for our intervention: premium viticulture and wine tourism in Bordeaux (Saint-Émilion, Médoc, Pessac-Léognan), aerospace and defence industry (Dassault, Thales, ArianeGroup), coastal tourism on the Basque coast (Biarritz, Bayonne, Anglet — the BAB), chemical industry on the Lacq basin (green hydrogen, industrial gases), agri-food and Landes forestry.

Each market concentrates specific environmental constraints: Atlantic biodiversity (Landes forests, Marais Poitevin wetlands, estuarine wetlands), Natura 2000 coastal sites, French Coastal Act constraints for the Basque coast, regional certification BDNA (Bâtiments Durables Nouvelle-Aquitaine), acoustic requirements for ocean-facing façades.

Our teams in Aix-en-Provence travel on site within 48 to 72 working hours, with operational knowledge of Atlantic specifics (oceanic climate, inverted water pressure, maritime salinity).

Regional framework

BDNA — the New Aquitaine reference grid.

The BDNA (Bâtiments Durables Nouvelle-Aquitaine) is the regional environmental evaluation framework, deployed since 2017 and run by the New Aquitaine Region with regional operators. It takes Atlantic climate specifics into account, regional biodiversity (Landes forests, Marais Poitevin, wetlands) and maritime issues.

  • BDNA Building — Pass, Silver, Gold levels. Evaluation on energy, water, biodiversity, materials, governance axes.
  • Regional support — the New Aquitaine Region encourages the process in funded or subsidised programmes.
  • Articulation with HQE, BREEAM, NF Habitat — often combinable depending on programme and target investor.

New Aquitaine FAQ

Frequently asked questions about our work in New Aquitaine.

Our head office is in Aix-en-Provence. We do not have a New Aquitaine agency: our teams travel on site within 48 to 72 working hours. This setup pools technical competences and guarantees method homogeneity across all projects. For multi-site operations, a reference engineer handles local coordination.
Yes. Our ARKENOR consultants are trained on the BDNA (Bâtiments Durables Nouvelle-Aquitaine) framework, deployed by the Region since 2017. We carry the file from application to regional audit. BDNA is often combined with HQE Bâtiment Durable or NF Habitat HQE for operations targeting both regional public procurement and a national investor public.
New Aquitaine concentrates major biodiversity stakes: Landes forests (Europe's largest cultivated forest), Marais Poitevin, estuarine wetlands (Gironde, Bidassoa), Atlantic coastline with migration corridors, Pyrenees mountain biodiversity. Fauna-flora surveys must cover a full biological cycle adapted to the Atlantic calendar (migratory birds in spring and autumn, amphibians in wetlands, forest bats). Our ecologist team masters these specifics.
Yes. The Basque coast concentrates specific stakes: French Coastal Act, height and footprint constraints, premium residential and tourist real estate, ocean wind, maritime salinity for envelope durability. Our RE2020 thermal studies integrate these constraints; our consulting teams work with BAB municipalities and tourism operators. We also carry out ecological surveys on protected coastal areas.
Ideally from the programming or sketch phase, 18 to 24 months before permit submission. On Euratlantique ZAC and other Bordeaux eco-districts, certain structuring choices (compactness, orientation, footprint biodiversity, water management) must be locked in before preliminary design to avoid cost overruns and delays. The BDNA commission and Bordeaux Métropole environment department require a substantial file as early as preliminary design.
