Engineering Expertise Certification

In 1752, in the southern hemisphere, the astronomer Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille catalogued a constellation no one had named before. He drew it between Scorpio and Centaurus, away from the great mythological figures, and gave it the name of two instruments — the square and the rule — brought together under a single word: Norma. The norm that aligns.

No blazing star. No noisy figure. The tool that verifies that the angle is right, that the vertical holds, that the structure aligns. The instrument of those who build, away from the narratives.

Two and a half centuries later, the construction-site squares have given way to thermal calculations, carbon simulations, independent third-party certifications. But the discipline has not changed: a building holds because it has been measured, verified, signed.

In the name NORMAXIS, several dimensions stack up. The norm that binds. The north that orients. Norma that aligns. Max that sets the threshold. The axis that holds the load. Five interlocking readings. A single discipline.

NORMAXIS places building engineering in this lineage. ARKEMEP fuses energy. ARKENOR goes beyond compliance. IRICE grows life and certifies it as an independent third party. Three trades that share a single rigour: Engineering. Expertise. Certification.

A building is not a promise. It is an architecture that aligns, verifies and is signed — and that holds over time.

NORMAXIS practice

Engineering · Expertise · Certification

Three trades that share a single discipline — measuring, verifying, signing.

Engineering

We size projects against the rules that bind them. Every assumption is citable, every calculation tied to its standard, every choice aligned with a recognised method.

Expertise

We measure on site what was designed on screen. Air infiltrometry, acoustics, ventilation, biodiversity: expertise verifies that reality matches intent. Verify before validating. Measure before declaring.

Certification

In a world where everyone produces calculations, court-admissible evidence becomes the rare asset. IRICE, a group subsidiary, signs as an independent third party under ISO/IEC 17065.

Doctrine

Our doctrine on artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence is starting to enter building engineering. Assistive tools for thermal modelling, acoustic optimisation or MEP pre-sizing are appearing — as auxiliaries, still immature, to be watched.

At NORMAXIS, calculations are performed by engineers. Fully. RE2020 thermal studies (France's environmental regulation for buildings), dynamic simulations, carbon LCAs, HVAC sizing, predictive acoustics: every result carries the responsibility of a professional who set it down, interpreted it, signed it. AI may become a complementary tool in the coming years — we observe it, test it, prepare for it. But today the value of a study is measured by the human competence that produced it.

What AI will never do, however mature it becomes: place a sound level meter on a floor for an NF EN ISO 16283 acceptance. Sign a court-admissible RE2020 air-tightness test. Carry responsibility before a judicial expert. Deliver an ISO/IEC 17065 certification on site.

The NORMAXIS discipline is also that: distinguishing what can be assisted from what must remain human. Measure, verify, sign — three acts our engineers perform themselves, today as tomorrow.

Territorial anchoring

Aix-en-Provence. South-West France: PACA, Occitanie, Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Headquarters in Aix-en-Provence. Our engineers travel on site across three major regions of South-West France — because measurement cannot be delegated, and physical evidence comes from the ground, not from a screen.

Beyond: national public procurement and key-account projects across France.
